Job Seeker FAQs

How does your service work?

When you come into our office, we’ll have you fill out an application, then interview with one of our job counselors. If you prefer, you can download our pdf application before you come in. Read more about our Job Seeker services.

Is there a fee for your service?

No, there is no fee charged to our applicants. Fees are paid by the employer when a placement is made.

Do I need an appointment?

No. We typically have counselors available Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Appointments are accepted during the lunch hour if that's the only time you can come in.

How long will it take?

Expect to spend approximately 30 minutes completing the application and interviewing. Times vary depending on how long it takes you to fill out the application, how long you visit with the counselor and how many people completed their application ahead of you.

Will I have to complete any testing?

Maybe; it depends on what kind of job you're applying for. Some employers require skill assessment tests before they interview a candidate. Most assessments can be emailed to you to complete at home (if you have access to high-speed internet). Some tests must be completed in a controlled environment and are conducted at our office. The most common assessments that we set up via email are data entry, typing, Microsoft Word & Excel.

What do I need to bring to apply?

Bring a list of your employment history, including dates, at least three references, and your resume, if you have one (resumes are recommended for professional/office positions). Know your Social Security number & state I.D./driver's license numbers (we will not need to see these until we find a position for you).

What NOT to bring when you apply:

Please don't bring food or drinks, children, friends or family members.

How should I dress when I apply?

Make your first impression a good one. Looking sharp for an interview can help place you ahead of other qualified applicants. A good rule of thumb is to dress slightly better than the job you’re applying for.

Office Jobs

For office jobs, standard attire for men is a navy or black suit, dress shirt, and a conservative tie. For women, we suggest a suit (with pants or a long skirt), and a dressy shirt with a modest neckline. Avoid busy patterns, large jewelry, and excessive make-up or perfume.

Field Jobs

If you are applying for a field job, we recommend a minimum of business casual attire. For men, that would include a dress shirt (with optional tie) or polo shirt, dress slacks or chinos, dark socks, and dress shoes. Please avoid t-shirts, ripped jeans, or flip-flops. For women, a conservative blouse (no spaghetti straps or low necklines), dress pants, and dress shoes would be appropriate.

How long does it take for you to find me a job?

That varies. It depends on what your skills are and what jobs are available. Our job is to find the right match for each of our employers and candidates.

Why haven't you called me back since I applied? Why haven't you returned my calls?

  1. It's possible that we don't have a valid number for you. Have you changed your phone number since completing your application? Did you forget to provide us with a cell number?
  2. We have a very high volume of applicants and phone calls. Our counselors would love to speak with every person each time they call, but there simply is not enough time. If there is a job listing that seems to match your requirements & qualifications, we will call to see if you're interested.
  3. Counselors are given the message each time you call or come by to check in. Rest assured that they will call you if a job is listed that they feel you qualify for.

Should I check in every day?

No. Once per week or every other week is adequate unless you have found employment—in which case, we'd like to be notified.
